Maverick Helicopters is Our Runner Up
Want a luxurious trip to the Grand Canyon? Book a Maverick Helicopter flight...
The tours at Maverick Helicopters are superior to those offered by their competitors. But you have to be willing to pay for it. The company only flies the EcoStar, a helicopter designed from the cabin to tail for sightseeing. The customer service is fantastic, and the trips feel like charter flights. However, I was still hung up on price, so I compared Maverick's Grand Canyon West Rim & Skywalk package against the most inexpensive one on the market. The result was astonishing: Maverick's tour was just 15 percent more expensive because it packs so much value and convenience into their tours. I strongly suggest you re-allocate a minor portion of your Las Vegas entertainment budget and book with Maverick. The Grand Canyon will be the highlight of your Las Vegas trip, and this is one time it pays not to scrimp.
Maverick's EcoStar (EC-130) is no ordinary helicopter. This aircraft was built from the ground up for sightseeing. The cabin, for example, is 23 percent bigger than most of the Las Vegas helicopters flying Canyon trips. No back-facing or bench seats, either: The EcoStar is equipped with front-facing stadium-style seating. This, combined with full wraparound windows, guarantees that every seat is the best in the house. These helicopters purr like a cat, too, because the EcoStar incorporates a Fenestron Tail Rotor, which reduces rotor and engine noise by 50 percent. If you are going to see the Grand Canyon, this is the helicopter you want to be in.
Maverick's flight safety record is perfect. Much of it made possible by the EcoStar's superior design. But a lot of credit must go to the pilots. The company has a reputation for employing the best in the business. Pilots must successfully pass Maverick's rigorous training program, which emphasizes customer safety. For example, just before your tour departs, watch as the pilot gives his aircraft a full 360-degree ground and air inspection. And his responsibilities don't stop there - Maverick pilots are trained to give a live narration of the tour from start to finish (taped narrations are available in a host of languages for non-English speakers), and encourage you to interact with them and your fellow passengers via the helicopter's two-way digital communication system.
Everybody who takes a Maverick tour is treated like royalty. Packages include hotel pick-up and drop-off at your resort hotel. It's a sweet perk, too, that Maverick's private air terminal is located at Las Vegas' McCarran Airport because you don't have to add extra preparation time to get to one of the City's outlying airports. Customer service is available 24/7. I've thrown every imaginable inquiry at them from oddball tour upgrades to special charter requests and they solved everyone of them in a manner that was fast and efficient. The company's website is one of the best I've used. It's fast and safe and makes purchasing your trip a snap. I've yet to experience a SNAFU using MaverickHelicopters.com.
I'm convinced that once you get over "sticker shock" (if you get it all) you will get more bang for your buck with Maverick. Their tours cover a lot of ground and include a lot of "air" time. You'll fly over the requisite sites plus special ones that visitors on cheaper tours never see. I also like the company's tour selection. For example, you can enhance a standard Grand Canyon South or West Rim tour by booking a sunrise or sunset flight. Or include a Monument Valley or Valley of Fire flyover. Maverick's famous for its Grand Canyon helicopter wedding packages, too. If you are feeling adventurous, go ahead and upgrade your flight to include river rafting or the Grand Canyon Skywalk. Return flights include the Las Vegas Strip, a regular part of any tour that originates in Las Vegas because of the company's terminal location at McCarran.
I give Maverick two thumbs up. But don't take my word for it. The company has received two awards from the Travel Channel's "Top 10 Best Helicopter Thrills in the World," and is the preferred provider of helicopter services for the Travel Channel, the Golf Channel, ABC, NVC, the Game Show Network, Fox TV, DreamWorks, and the Discovery Channel. This is in addition to consistently being recognized by it's travel industry peers for innovation and four-star service. If Maverick keeps getting accolades at this pace, its going to need to build another trophy shelf.
I highly recommend Maverick Helicopters. I'm also noticing that more of the people who bookmark my helicopter review site are flying with Maverick. To be honest, this surge has caught me off guard. It's well know that Las Vegas visitors are looking for the best deal on the planet. I applaud that, and I'm one of you. But helicopter tours appear to be a different breed of cat. People want the best, and I'm in full agreement. Seeing one of the Seven Wonders of the World is not something you want spoiled by a bad experience. I say make room in your tour budget for Maverick, and be prepared for the trip of a lifetime!
I wanted an outdoors wedding and the Grand Canyon is the ultimate backdrop. I searched all the helicopter operators in Las Vegas. Maverick had the best selection and the staff to pull it off. They chartered my entire wedding party to the bottom with out missing a beat. I couldn't have pulled off this incredible ceremony without them. Thanks, Maverick, for making this bride's special day so wonderful!

I've taken helicopter tours all over the world. I've learned the hard way that when it comes to these types of trips, you pay for quality. I got VIP treatment from Maverick the minute we lifted off. They hire the best pilots and fly the best helis. I know for a fact that a lot of operators use the smaller helicopters. Not Maverick. Our aircraft was spacious and the views were out of this world. It was like watching your own personal IMAX movie! If you want the ultimate aerial view of the Canyon, ride a Maverick Helicopter.

I'm a stickler for customer service and quality. I expect to be pampered when I'm on vacation, especially in Vegas. Maverick understands this, and provided me with the type of "high-roller" experience I expect. They greeted me by name. They escorted me to my aircraft. The pilot I had was an ace flyer and could have wrote a book on the Grand Canyon. He made our ride a complete pleasure (I rewarded him with a nice tip). If you are looking for a quality air tour, choose Maverick. These guys know how to treat their customers.
