Perfect Day at Grand Canyon

grand canyon south sunset

Sun sets over the beautiful landscape known as Grand Canyon South.

Let me jump in and say that summer has been awesome at the Grand Canyon.

Temperatures have been very cooperative and visibility is nearing perfection in the morning.

Even the evening has become spectacular, especially at sunset. This is due to dust and smoke from recent/ongoing forest fires.

Interestingly, the particulates that blow into the air around dusk turn the sun’s rays into magic. The result is you get a real show.

Go here for Sunset helicopter rides.

I’m seeing a lot of folks booking the 30-minute south rim flight. I’m all about it, but I think the real value is the 50-minute tour.

Indeed, the 50 is more expensive, but the value is MUCH greater than the 30.

The key point of differentiation? The 50 lets you see up to 75 percent of the national park.

That’s a big deal.

In the end, it’s up to you, your time constraints and budget.

And most importantly is to just lock down a helicopter tour. Flights have been selling out as of late. Make sure you fly by booking at least a week ahead of time.

Travel on!
